Eligibility Seminar in the Canary Islands
Reaching out to educate student-athletes in the Canary Islands
Coach Bevin Head of Basketball Development at AAUCONNECT.COM was the guest speaker today at the Canary Islands most prestigious bi-lingual private school, Colegio Arenas International School
Colegio Arenas International is a Center which hosts students from 6 months to 18 years. The school creates an environment in which pupils participate in and enjoy the many sports offered. The center offers excellent facilities and an enthusiastic group of teachers, coaches and specialists whose objective is to teach the necessary skills and, to create a healthy attitude towards sport.
Coach Bevin was invited to speak with the student-athletes about what it takes to play collegiate sports in the United States.
Coach Bevin went over all the eligibility requirements that the student-athletes have to meet if they want to pursue a career in their chosen sport.
The seminar including the following:
- Information on the NCAA clearinghouse
- SAT prep examination
- TOFEL examination
- The difference between the European system and the United States system
- The demands of college sports
- How to get yourself recruited
- What it take to play at the collegiate level
The student-athletes were very engaged and asked Coach Bevin many questions. It was an enjoyable and very informative seminar all round.
This made a positive impact in their lives and educated them to fully understand how they can achieve their sporting goals.
