Local Basketball Awareness at Harlem Globetrotters
The world renowned Harlem Globetrotters played at the Floyd. L. Maines Arena on Feb 15th, two days before the NYIA Eagles hit the same court to face international competition.
Athletes Abroad Scholarship Foundation went down to set up an awareness booth at the game with help from the players from New York International Academy who volunteered their time to make people aware of who they are and to come down and support them this coming Friday 17th Feb as they play on their home court against a team traveling all the way from Amsterdam, Holland.
In what has become a winter tradition in the region, local fans got the chance to see all manner of fancy moves from Anthony “Buckets” Blakes and his teammates when the Harlem Globetrotters returned to the Maines Arena as part of their remarkable 91st consecutive season.
Not surprising, the turn out was big and this allowed us to reach so many people. The players even got a chance to meet the Globetrotters and had their picture taken with them at half-time.
A big thank you to all those who showed interested and took time out to speak with the NYIA players. And a big thank you to the Harlem Globetrotters who allowed us to set up our booth. We look forward to continuing to work with you in the future.
